CARLOS MANAÇA
Carlos Manaça is one of the main Portuguese DJs / Producers and one of the first that reached international recognition. His DJ career started in 1986 in his hometown Barreiro (near Lisbon) and he is one of the pioneers of the Portuguese Dance Scene.
Being resident of two of the first Dance Clubs in Portugal during the 90’s (1992 to 1995 at CAIS 447 – Matosinhos, Oporto, and 1995 to 1996 at ROCK’s Club - Vila Nova Gaia, Oporto) and since then playing in some of the biggest Dance Music events in Portugal, gave him the recognition as one of the main DJs on the Portuguese Dance Scene. As a “Rock’s Club” resident DJ he played with International Artists like Danny Tenaglia, Carl Cox, Armand Van Elden, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, Josh Wink, Dj Sneak, Johnny Vicious, George Morel, Eric Morillo, Underworld (Live), among many others, most of them playing for the first time in Portugal.
As a Producer, his name started to be known in 1995 with the worldwide release by TRIBAL AMERICA of his remixes of Oporto’s Dance Act OLN “Oporto Deep Cuts EP”. Later in 1999 creates MAGNA RECORDINGS and in 2001 co-produces Manaca, Chus & Ceballos “The Strong Rhythm”, released on Stereo Productions, and included in several International Dance compilations, like the acclaimed “DEEP DISH Global Underground: MOSCOW”, while topping the Dance Charts all over the Globe.
Based in Madrid since 2002 after finishing an Audio Engineering degree at SAE Institute, his DJ schedule is mostly in Portugal, but he still has time to play regularly in Countries like Japan, Switzerland, England, Brazil, Luxemburg, Poland, Croatia, Germany, Mexico, Angola, Mozambique, Russia, USA, Canada and Spain, among others.
2015 was his biggest year as a Producer with releases on important Labels like Dubfire’s SCI+TEC, Funk’n Deep, Toolroom (with Chus & Ceballos), Orange Recordings, Transmit, Otto Music, Kinetika Records, District Audio and his own Magna Recordings.
In 2016 Carlos Manaça celebrated 30 Years as a professional DJ. It was one of his best DJ years ever receiving several awards in Portugal. One of them was a special “30 Years Career Award” by Oporto Radio Nova Era in a sold out show called “Best Of The Year by Radio Nova Era” on April 2nd 2016.
Also in 2016, in May, Carlos Manaça headlined ROCK IN RIO Lisboa electronic stage with Carl Cox, Octave One (Live) Dj Vibe and Conti & Leozinho (Brazil) an amazing sold out event, one of the best Rock In Rio Lisboa electronic nights so far.
Still in 2016 Carlos Manaça was nominated one of the “ 10 Best Portuguese DJs” by online dance website “100% DJ” and was also nominated as “Best Tech DJ” by WAV Awards, also in Portugal.
In 2018 reached number #7 on "100% DJ Top 30” poll.
Since 2017 he has a weekly Magna Recordings Radio Show on Radio Nova Era in Oporto (Portugal) Fridays 11pm to 12am (GMT) on 101.3 and 100.1 FM. Its a return to Radio Nova Era as he hosted a Radio Show there as Rock’s Club resident DJ in 1995 and 1996.
